Kotoyama's hit manga, Dagashi Kashi is renewed for a 2nd season anime series that will be aired in Japan next year.
Dagashi Kashi follows Kokonotsu Shikada and his father Yo who runs a sweet shop called Shikada in the countryside until Hotaru Shidare; heir to famous snacks company came to recruit Yo as an employee to her father's company which Yo accepts. But in order to do that, Yo struck Hotaru a deal: she must convince Kokonotsu to take over the Shikada family business which the latter refuses to accept it. Hotaru tried many ways to convince Kokonotsu, as far as doing games, stories, and riddles about sweets and snacks the latter sells at their store. They are also joined by Kokonotsu's friends; Saya and To Endo, who runs a café nearby the former's store.
In the upcoming season, a new character will be joining Kokonotsu and the gang, 20 year old Hajime Owari. Unlike the anime's 1st season which previously produced by Feel; Tezuka Productions takes over to produce the 2nd season with Satoshi Kuwabara (Black Jack, Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL) as the new director, Mayumi Morita who will handle the series' composition and Nana Miura (Young Black Jack) is in charge of the character designs. Voice casts will still be the same from the 1st season though it wasn't revealed yet who will be voicing Hajime Owari in the anime.

Dagashi Kashi 2 will air sometime next year on TBS, though no specific date yet is given when it will air.
