Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros. Inducted To World Video Game Hall of Fame

Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros. are one of the top 6 video games were recently inducted to the World Video Game Hall of Fame, which was formally launched by the National Museum of Play, supported/co-organized by The Strong and International Center for the History of Electronic Games.

The newly created body symbolizes the recognition of these games that transcends a great influence to the world of gaming in our culture. The inducted games were based on the following criteria: Icon Status, Longevity, Geographical Reach, and Influence. The voting began for the top inductees to the general public last February 17 till March 15 2015 and among the top 15, only 6 made it to the list. Here are the top 6 games inducted for this year:

Doom (1993, id Software)

Pac-Man (1980, Namco)

Pong (1972, Atari)

Super Mario Bros. (1985, Nintendo)

Tetris (1984, Alexey Pajitnov)

World of Warcraft (2004, Blizzard Entertainment)

So far, Pong was the oldest game while World of Warcraft was the recent game that were ever inducted. Its nice to see the old school games Pac-Man, Super Mario and Tetris made it to the list and they deserve it since these are the one influenced that me in playing video games till now and most of you will agree with me, right?

Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokémon Red & Blue and Zelda were among the games that didn't make it, but there's still hope that they can be inducted, hopefully by next year.
