The Lopez Museum & Library opens another exhibit featuring the works of the national Artist Benedicto Cabrera or Bencab for short as he celebrates 50 years in the industry.
Titled Frames of Reference; a collection of Bencab's works during the 1960's till the present, a celebration life of the man as an artist, lover, family man, collector and bibliophile spanning 50 years of his greatest works.
The launch event was held last April 22 with the man himself, Mr. Bencab in attendance and its such an opportunity that I got invited on such a rare event. The exhibit features of his artworks on paper, clippings, sketches, portraits, portfolios and various art books published and never before seen items are displayed at the exhibit, among displayed are the iconic Soldiers of Fortune (Heroes of the Past), Sabel, Larawan and Japanese Women (ukiyo-e).
This will be the Lopez Museum & Library's last exhibit at Benpres Building as the latter will move to a bigger and better location, which is ironic that their first exhibit started was with Bencab as this last exhibit featured with him as well.
Frames of Reference Art Exhibit is curated by Mr. Danny Alvarez and it is now open to the public, till July 4. The exhibit is located at the Library, ground floor, Benpres Building Exchange Rd. cor. Meralco Ave., Pasig City.
