As Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V nearing its series' conclusion, a new Yu-Gi-Oh! series is set to air soon after ARC-V's finale.
Titled Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, is the sixth Yu-Gi-Oh! series that will air this coming May. The series follows Yusaku Fujiki [藤木 遊作]: a high school student who doesn't like to stand out. But in reality, he is cool-headed and extremely clever; skilled in hacking and cracking abilities. Also, he's good at reading people and he thinks on his feet.
The series will feature Link VRAINS: a virtual realty world where duelist battle out in the Virtual World. Yusaku duels in the virtual world with a different avatar look from his real world counterpart under the alias, Playmaker.
Aside from Yusaku, two more characters will be joining in his Virtual Duel battle, Go Onizuka [鬼塚 豪] (possibly rival) and Aoi Zaizen [財前 葵]; Yusaku's classmate are also VR Duelist under the names of Go Onizuka (his real name, but it was written differently online as [Go鬼塚]) and Blue Angel [ブルーエンジェル] respectively. As with the previous Yu-Gi-Oh! series, VRAINS will introduce a new summoning method called Link Summon where duelist summons new type of Extra deck monsters called Link Monsters.
In line with the upcoming anime series, TV Tokyo will air a TV special called Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS Complete Analysis! Yu-Gi-Oh! LABO which airs on April 5th where it will introduce the series before its official airing in May. Konami already made some new drastic changes in the gameplay and rulings in the Official Card Game (OCG) and soon in the Trading Card Game (TCG) with the introduction of the Link Monsters. The company will release the first Starter deck for the series which is out this coming March 25th and it contains Yusaku's Cyverse monsters and the Link Monster, Decode Talker in the set and slated in April 15th is the first major booster pack for the series titled Code of the Duelist [COTD] which contains Yusaku's ace Link monster, the Firewall Dragon.
I can't wait for this series to start and hopefully it has much better storyline than ARC-V. Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS airs on Wednesdays starting this may, 6:25 PM (JST) on TV Tokyo.
