At the San Diego Comic Con, 4K Media Inc. and Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi graced in the discussion panel, regarding on the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! Movie that will be released next year as the franchise celebrates its 20th Anniversary.
The official title of the movie has been revealed titled The Dark Side of Dimensions (pamphlet image shown above), and according to Takahashi the movie will have an original story (which Takahashi also wrote it) and the setting takes place 6 months after the original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and before Yu-G-Oh! Duel Monsters GX. Like Yugi Mutou and Seto Kaiba, the movie will feature most of the original characters from the series with new updated character designs to give them a slight older look and new characters will be introduced in the movie as well, including the main villain (shown in the image which by the way the villain's design looks like Yusei Fudo from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's).
Plus, we get to see Atem/Yami Yugi in the background (also shown in the image), perhaps he's aiding Yugi once more to prevent the upcoming threat despite he already 'departed' following their ceremonial duel. Kaiba also features a new Duel disk and the D-Gazer technology is introduced which many fans speculated that the 4th series, Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL is the canon series to the franchise (sorry 5D's). Since the movie's title Dark Side of Dimensions, could this be a tie-in to the on-going crossing dimensions storyline in Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V?
So many questions left unanswered but we'll have wait till the movie comes out. Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions movie will also get a theatrical release overseas, it will be shown in Japan in Spring 2016 and in late 2016 for the rest of the countries.
