2016 will be the year for Yu-Gi-Oh! as its officially announced that a new movie for the Duel Monster series is in works and we have official clear images of Yugi Mutou and Seto Kaiba.
To celebrate Yu-Gi-Oh!'s 20th anniversary, its officially revealed that a new Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters movie will happen that will feature an all new original story. The official site of the movie is already open and revealed the 2 main characters from the original series, Yugi Mutou and Seto Kaiba.
In the image features an older (and probably more competent duelist) Yugi; no longer wears the Millennium Puzzle which contains his soul partner; formerly the nameless Pharaoh, Atem, so I'm assuming that the story will take place after the Ceremonial Battle arc and before the start of the 2nd series, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX. Though I'm a little concern on some art inconsistencies like the card Yugi is holding, it features a new card backing design that features the standard card backing from Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL and Arc-V and not using the original card backing from the original series.
Anyway aside from the movie news, its also confirmed that Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters TV series will have a digital remastered version that will be aired in February 2015 and it will feature the scenes from the original 2000-2004 series, so I'm also guessing it will probably feature some selected scenes that was based from the original manga, similar to Toei's Dragonball Kai and the episode count will also be cut down as well.
The new Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters movie is slated for 2016 release though the actual date was not yet announced or if they have plans for an overseas release. The official Yu-Gi-Oh! 20th Anniversary movie is up, you can visit the site HERE.
